Most IP APIs are a thin layer over someone else's data. IP GeoTrace runs its own resolver on a database we build ourselves - so you get first-party results, not a marked-up middleman.
A first-party database
We build and maintain our own IP intelligence database in-house. Nothing here is proxied from a third-party lookup service you could just as easily have called yourself.
Built from the registries
Our data starts with the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) - ARIN, RIPE NCC, APNIC, LACNIC and AFRINIC - the authorities that allocate IP address space and publish that allocation data openly, alongside other public datasets.

What is an IP address?
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique number assigned to every device on a network. It identifies where data should be sent, and it can be used to estimate a rough geographic location and the network an address belongs to.
How accurate is IP geolocation?
Country-level accuracy is typically very high (99%+). City-level accuracy varies by region and network - usually within a few dozen kilometres. IP geolocation estimates the location of the network, not the exact person, so treat city and coordinates as approximate.
Can I hide or change my IP address?
Yes. A VPN or proxy routes your traffic through another server, so websites see that server’s IP instead of yours. Your real IP is still known to your VPN provider and your internet service provider.
Do you store the IPs I look up?
Lookups are rate-limited and cached briefly to protect the service, but the public demo is designed to be privacy-respecting. For production use, your API usage is tied to your own workspace and quota.
Is there a free plan?
